Eligibility Requirements for Candidates for Accreditation and Accredited Education Institutions

IEAA accepts applications and enquiries from institutions that are concerned predominantly with education in some form. This can be broad in scope to any form of imparting or giving some aspect of knowledge. Our definition of education is “the process of teaching and/or training” or the “process of training to improve any aspect of one’s life from academic to anything that can be taken as improving the quality of life”.

Although, such programs must be based on verifiable knowledge, which has been subjected to examination by competent academic persons and by established practitioners of the arts, sciences, crafts and professions. Although diversity of requirements is expected among candidate and member institutions, course and degree requirements of an applicant institution must also be congruent with those of the broader education community, which the Authority recognizes.

Institutions may offer programs or courses that the Authority would not define as higher learning (e.g., introductory courses in subjects that some students may have missed in high school and courses and special programs specifically constructed to assist students to be successful with college-level coursework), but these are offered in addition to the courses and programs relevant to their mission as a whole.

International Education Accreditation Authority accredits institutions and or specific programs. Another section of the Accreditation Handbook (about 189 pages of accreditation information from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities- Check out their web site at: http://www.nwccu.org/. They are located in Redmond, Washington) The above booklet contains the nine detailed Standards and related Policies by which quality, effectiveness, accreditation and candidacy are evaluated. These should not be confused with other essential Eligibility Requirements that must be met when evaluating an institution’s application for consideration or when granting or continuing candidacy, granting Initial Accreditation, and reaffirming Accreditation. Each eligibility requirement is an expected level of performance or pre-condition that relates to the Standard and/or Policy.

Smaller Private School

First it must be said, that IEAA specialize in small institutions and has much experience with the specialized educational institutions. We do not take a one-size fits all approach. Many forms are not needed and often an on-site inspection is not necessary thus cutting down on paper work and expenses.

For accreditation, the size of the school is only important on several levels. For example, are research facilities sufficient for the courses offered? Does the library have enough volumes, are the computer enough in quality and quantity. Small schools can compensate with a great teaching and administration staff. We will make recommendations to improve the system with any institution.

The International Education Accreditation Authority (IEAA) accredits smaller private schools that offer associateís, baccalaureate and all the courses thru to a Doctor of Philosophy level. The IEAA accrediting standards place an emphasis on teaching and outcomes.
